Guillermo Cerneaz & Marina Kenny (Buenos Aires) [video] Guillermo has been teaching tango in Buenos Aires and in Europe and Canada for over 13 years. He focuses on the social aspect of tango incorporating the elegant and traditional style. Marina, is a young dancer of the new generation and has taught in B.A. as well as in Beijing and Shanghai. Her teaching is clear and accurate in technical concepts and transmites her knowledge in a simple way, giving the students the necessary elements to express themselves freely.
Jennifer Olson (San Francisco) [video] Starting her career in Portand (OR), tango has taken Jennifer all over the world: to Europe, Argentina, Uraguay and throughout the U.S. and Canada. Her dance is characterized by a desire to strive for versatility. Since tango is a social dance, she believes that after mastering a comfortable embrace, nothing is more important than the music. This is transmitted in her teaching as she approaches every class with a strong command over the music
Jorge Nel & Milena Giraldo (Colombia/Miami) [video] Jorge Nel’s dance career spans over 30 years and reflect his love and dedication to dancing and teaching tango. In 1985 he won the first National Tango Championship in Colombia and he continues to teach all over the U.S. and sell his well known Mr Tango Shoes.
Luciano Brigante & Alexandra Orozco (Buenos Aires) [video] Alexandra and Luciano (runner up world champion in Tango salon category, BS. AS. Argentina 2004) implement distinctive methods of instruction comming from Villa Urquiza Style and enriched by their knowledge in the field of communication and psychology, to revolutionize the way we see, feel, hear and experience tango.
Murat & Michelle Erdemsel (Hawaii-Istanbul) [video]. Two of the most loved couples in tango, M&M live half the year in the USA, the other half in Europe teaching at the most prestigious Tango events in both places–including Portland Tango Festivals, Amsterdam TangoMagia, Brussels Tango Festival etc. Murate will be provding us again this year with his entertaining and educational Saturday noon lecture.
Nick Jones & Diana Cruz (Denver) [video] Nick Jones has been dancing & studying since 1996. He was one of the first North American tango dancers to have been invited to teach in festival in Buenos Aires (Pulpo’s Tango Week). Leading the NaturalTango Orchestra has given him a singular look into the inner workings of tango music, and has greatly influenced his dance. Diana Cruz incorporates her multi-disciplinary techniques (including: Ballet, Contemporary dance, Modern dance, Latin American folk dances, Pilates, Yoga, Singing and many Tango styles) into one cohesive dance. She uses these techniques to create powerful, musical, unique performances. Her understanding of biomechanics gives her an astute approach as a tango teacher.
Tomás Howlin (Buenos Aires) & Shorey Myers (San Francisco) [video] With nearly 20 years of experience, each of Tomas’ movements is deeply inspired by the traditional aesthetic that have characterized the style and elegance of tango for the past sixty years. Starting in the well-known tango clubs of Buenos Aires he branched out internationally as he performed and choreographed for theater and film, as well as for tango festivals throughout Argentina, the United States, and Europe. Shorey has been a dedicated tango instructor and DJ for the last 8 years and is a frequent teaching partner with Tomas at various festivals.
